If you have builtcastles in the air, your work need not be lost that is here they shouldbe. Now put the foundations under then”.Success today is often defined by the power of the wealth that oneholds. Today students are influenced by models like parents, otheradults, peers and mass media, film, T.V etc. Children spent moretime with their peers and less time with adults. If time want to havemore value on our children's values, parents have to be willing todevote more time to them. With advancement of technology, man himself is becoming amachine.
The reason behind this is, that he is spending more time withmachines rather than with human beings. Emotions, feelings, valuesand manners are disappearing day by day.In this context, teaching values in schools is a real challenge for theteachers. What we aim in our school is a noble value exhortationwhich formed the core of the ancient educational system thatproduced the great scientists, ruler and honest men and women, andmore than all these a culture and civilization with we have lost touchfor some time now.
The end of education lies in transforming theindividual and elevating him/her to an egoless state. The purpose ofeducation is to strengthen character in the younger generation whichis an answer to any of the problems that face people today. May thetrue education carry the message of serenity, humility and humancompassion and wipe out the moral chaos prevailing in our society.Fr.

Our students are always encouragedto participate in extra co-curricular activities like debates, speech, games, musicand public speaking etc.Our life is a journey. We learn and experience something new everyday. We not onlyimpart in-depth knowledge of a particular subject but at the same time also ensurecompetent and constant growth of the students. Problems exist in everyone’s lifebut we frequently remind the students not to be afraid of failure but strive hardto achieve success for excellence and good leadership.
It is possible only whenwe build up good attitude and conduct. We also learn to become disciplined, to seethings in proper perspective. There are ups and downs in life and we need to acceptthe challenge and win it at all costs. Physical work and games enable the studentsto cope up to be fit and healthy persons. If you work hard then only great thingscan be achieved easily. Consequently, our struggles will vanish within no time andour achievement will be remembered for long.
So, Dear Students keep up the spiritand achieve greater things in life.If pupils are convinced of their goals, of course, they will always tend to thinkdeeply and achieve their aims. Some students, who are ambitious, do not work hardand want only comforts, lose their ability to achieve their ultimate goal. So itis the prime responsibility of teachers to show the right path and constantly motivatethe students. Therefore we impart a strong foundation to educate well and much neededcompass reading to see all things properly. One must acknowledge that if a studentis excellent in performance other students should think positively to match theexcellent student in performance.
Our teachers are using their best methodologyto impart knowledge to their students. Looking to the above co-curricular activitiesof our school, I am sure that our students will shine and become valuable citizensof our country in times to come.I hope and pray that the students of our School will scale great heights and keepthe S.A.S. As the present Principal of Visakha Vidyalaya, I’m delighted to send this message at the re-launch of the official website of our school.Visakha Vidyalaya has been recognized as the leading girls school in Sri Lanka for several decades, due to the outstanding performances Visakhians have displayed both here and abroad. As such I’m greatly indebted to the founder of our school, the great philanthropist the late Mrs. Jeremias Dias, for her noble vision of establishing a Buddhist school for girls in Sri Lanka at a most difficult time. I like to place on record my appreciation of the long line of past principals for their visionary leadership in developing the school to its present status.

Principal's Message To Graduates
It gives me immense pleasure to welcome all the students of Under-graduate and Post-graduate courses and Research streams to the academic year 2013-14. Our college, enjoying a total autonomous status for the last several years, has recently been upgraded and placed at ‘A’ Grade by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council. I am duty-bound to thank the Management, the Staff and the Students for these achievements.Located in the heart of the city, The New College is the cynosure of all eyes. The infrastructure that the college has is second to none. We have a dedicated faculty who open the door for the students but at the same time expect them to enter it by themselves. There is no force more paralyzing than the fear of failure. We mould our students to be self confident and pragmatic such that when they enter life after their studies, they face various challenges with courage, conviction and success. The students must exhibit exemplary behaviour even outside the college without getting themselves provoked or letting themselves be taken for a ride especially while travelling.
